Top Secret Restaurant Recipes: Applebees
Applebee’s Recipes
Hi everyone. I’m a real fan of Applebees recipes and I thought I’d share a couple with you. The first one is for Applebee’s Baby Back Ribs and the second is for Applebee’s spinach pizza…
Applebee’s Baby Back Ribs
Here’s the recipe which includes the sauce….I hope you enjoy this!
Ingredients
(3) 1 Lb. racks pork baby back ribs – cut in half
1 cup ketchup
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
3 Tbls. dark brown sugar
3 Tbls. Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp. liquid smoke
1/2 tsp. salt
Place ribs in a large pot and fill pot with enough water to cover ribs. Bring water to a boil, reduce heat, cover and simmer for 1 hour, or until ribs are fork tender.
While ribs are boiling, combine remaining ingredients in a medium saucepan and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, stirring often, for 30 minutes, or until slightly thickened. Place boiled ribs, meat side down, on a broiler pan. Brush with half the sauce mixture and broil 4″-5″ from heat for 6-7 minutes.
Turn ribs over, brush with remaining sauce, and broil additional 6-7 minutes, or until edges are slightly charred.
Needless to say these are copy cat recipes, but they really taste great!
Applebee’s Spinach Pizza
2 whole pita breads
1 10 oz package frozen spinach
1/3 cup nutritional yeast
1 medium onion
5 or 6 plum tomatoes
1 8 oz package fresh mushrooms – (8 oz)
3 garlic cloves
1 tsp basil
1 tsp parsley
1 tsp cayenne pepper
1/2 cup rice milk – (to 1)
4 tblspoons flour
Thaw spinach completely, press out all water. Heat milk in saucepan, when hot but not boiling stir in flour. Stir until sauce begins to thicken, turn heat down. Add nutritional yeast and spinach.
Stir constantly until thick and gooey, only about 3 to 4 minutes.
In separate pan, saute onion, garlic, until onion is tender. Stir in tomatoes, mushrooms, and spices. Saute until just done.
Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Using a very sharp bread knife, split each pita bread so that you have two round flat pieces instead of one thick one. Place each piece of bread on a cookie sheet or pizza pan. Spread spinach sauce over each.
Top with tomato mixture, being careful to avoid the juice. Bake for 5 to 7 minutes. Watch closely so that the edges of the pita don’t burn.
Makes a nice crunchy crust.
This recipe yields 4 to 5 individual pizzas.
